Over 100 Children Die In Taliban Attack At Pakistan School

In an attack that is being seen as one of the worst in Pakistan, at least 126 people, mostly children, have been killed in a Taliban assault on an army-run public school in the Pakistani city of Peshawar.

About 6 militants are reported to have entered the school building and started shooting the children one by one with the intent of killing as many students as possible rather than taking hostages.

As at now, the army says most of the 500 students have been evacuated and a spokesman for the militants told BBC Urdu that the school had been targeted in response to army operations.

A woman, Irshadah Bibi, who lost her 12 year old son, was seen beating her face in grief and throwing herself against an ambulance.

Gunfire and explosions were heard as security forces hunted down the militants. Ambulances have also been carrying the injured to hospitals while major roads in Peshawar have been sealed off.
Meanwhile, a doctor at the local Lady Reading hospital said many of the students brought to the hospital were in very bad condition with head wounds.
