At this time of the year nationwide, its not unusual to start to experience the harmattan period which is a dry,dusty and sometimes cool wind that blows southwards from the Sahara desert across the country.
Due to this, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a weather alert to all Pilots warning them about the hazards associated with the Harmattan dust haze in flight operations at this time of the year.
The warning came in a press statement issued by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Fan Ndubuoke, he said it is an obvious threat to aircraft particularly in areas of challenging terrains due to low visibility so they need to be careful.
He urged all Pilots to obtain adequate departure, en route and destination weather information and briefing prior to flight operations at all the airports.
