Ebola Virus Claims Another Victim In The United States

The Ebola virus has claimed another victim in the US yesterday for the second time. Dr Martin Salia contracted Ebola while treating patients in Sierra Leone and was flown to Nebraska at the weekend but lost the battle yesterday.

Confirming the unfortunate incident, Nebraska Medical Center's chief nursing officer, Rosanna Morris, said it was an absolute honor to care for Dr Salia and that caring for him taught the Nebraska team a lot.

Dr Salia was a legal permanent resident of the United States and had been treating patients in Sierra Leone, one of the African countries that has been hit the hardest by the Ebola epidemic that began earlier this year.

When Salia arrived the US on Saturday, he was in an extremely critical condition, his kidneys and respiratory system were failing. He received a dose of ZMapp therapy and a blood transfusion from an Ebola survivor but still died from the disease.

Medical officials say Ebola patients must get treatment as early as possible to have a chance at surviving.
