After Stealing 250,000 Pounds, The Thief Is Caught Via His Selfie

A couple of days ago, I posted about a lady who pretended to be a struggling single mum claiming benefits even though she was married and the council found out through her wedding pictures posted on Facebook.

This time around, a jewelry thief who stole almost 250,000 pounds worth of valuables from London shops was caught via a selfie!

27 year old mechanic, Ibrahim Fofana left his phone behind at the scene of a crime where he had stolen 18,000 Pounds worth of jewelry and his selfie was used as the screensaver.

Posing as a customer he had entered the shop with a female accomplice,  claiming to be looking for an engagement ring. 30 minutes later, he returned alone and asked to see the rings to compare and ran out immediately the assistant handed them over.

According to the police, in his hurry to get out of the shop, the suspect left his mobile phone on the table with his bag. While the police were on the scene, the phone received a text message and his picture showed on the phone and he was immediately identified by the shop assistant.

With the picture, the police were able to trace him and arrest him and yesterday, he pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court and he was given 5 and a half years imprisonment.
