9 Months Without Electricity Over 57 Million Naira Debt ? Ifaki Ekiti People Protest & Governor Fayose Intervenes

Can you imagine being without electricity for 9 months and counting? well that is what obtains right now in Ifaki Ekiti following its disconnection by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company ,BEDC.

Yesterday, protesting youths of the town stormed the governor's house and Governor Ayo Fayose has promised to pay 5 Million out of the 57 Million Naira the people were said to owe the company.

He has also promised to install a transformer in the town to boost power distribution in the community after reconnection but he appealed to them to co-operate with him and not vandalise or destroy any property.

According to reports, the irate youths had attacked BEDC officals in the past which is why they abandoned the town. The governor went on to say modalities will also be worked out on how to pay the outstanding electricity bill.

But seriously 57 Million Naira debt? that in itself is ridiculous, I hope its not all these estimated bills that NEPA,PHCN,DISCO or whatever name they go by these days are guilty of.
