Its amazing how different Sudanese, Meriam Ibrahim now looks. She made headlines a few months ago when she was sentenced to hanging for refusing to reject Christianity. At that time the 27 year old was pregnant and was forced to give birth in prison with chains on her ankles.
Luckily for her, she was freed in in late June after an 18-month ordeal and was helped to travel to the US, where her husband Daniel Wani is a citizen.
Giving her first interview since she was released, she told Fox News how she was given three days to renounce her faith by the Sudanese authorities, and when she refused to, was sentenced to hang for Apostasy.
In prison, she said she was visited every day by imams, who recited parts of the Koran to her in an attempt to pressure her into renouncing her religion.
Meriam said her faith in God was the only weapon she held on to and it was what saw her through. She confirms that she still doesn't have a stable life now in the US but it is way better than prison.
I couldn't agree with her more as she has really transformed!!
