Facebook Hits 100 Million Active Users In Africa

Whether we like it or not Social Media has come to stay and the increasing figures of people using it keeps increasing daily from Twitter,Flickr,Pinterest,Insatgram and Facebook among others.

In fact, Facebook has confirmed that they now have 100 Million active users in Africa alone and due to this they may open an office in Africa next year. With this figure, it means about 1 in 10 Africans use the site which shows how lucrative the emerging African market could be as well as more potential users coming on board the platform.

In the US and Canada, 204 million people are signed up to the social network, which means 7 in 10 of people who are online use Facebook. With 410 million users, Asia is Facebook’s biggest market but its current usage rate is only around 10 per cent.

Although they haven’t said which of the African countries the office will be located, one of Facebook’s Vice Presidents,Nicola Mendelsohn, says it is an exciting business opportunity they want to look into.

Presently,Facebook has more than 1.5 million active advertisers and more than 1.3 billion active users globally

They can come open their office in Nigeria or what do you think??
