Apapa Oshodi Expressway To Be Rehabilitated In 8 Weeks

The Federal Government has directed a complete rehabilitation of the Apapa Oshodi Expressway in the next 8 weeks which is indeed a welcome development considering the horrible state of the road and the endless traffic road users suffer everyday.
This was made known by the Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen yesterday. He  said the Federal Government would be taking over the  reconstruction and expansion of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in a project that would involve five other ECOWAS member countries.

While inspecting the road, the minister explained that rigid pavement was being used to reconstruct the road to cater for new load capacity which was not envisaged when the road was built in the 1970s. According to him, these are drastic measures to rehabilitate the road.

There are also plans to construct a light rail line and a Bus Rapid Transit corridor as part of the project, to enhance tourism and economic activities on the axis.
