Just
last week on the children’s show I host on radio I advised children to check
the expiry date on any packaged food or drink item before they take it. This
was because one of my neighbors bought a fruit drink for her daughter that was
contaminated.
Ideally
the girl would have drunk it with the straw provided but because she wanted to
share it with her kid brother they poured it into a cup and lo and behold there
were some weird looking particles in the drink with bits and pieces of the
drink pack actually disintegrating in it…..imagine what would have happened if she
had drunk it?
However
on close inspection of the pack, they realized the drink was actually expired
and they had to take it back to the supermarket they bought it from.
Now
I’m sure some people will say ‘Naija pple haff come o!” but the truth is generally
we need to be very observant about anything we buy to eat or drink from
anywhere either locally or internationally.
Just
the other day in Cornwall in the United kingdom a scorpion was discovered
inside a sealed pack of bananas(you can close your mouth now…Lol) Yes o!
Supermarket workers had a huge shock when they spotted the scorpion wrapped up
in the pack of bananas.
The
bananas had come all the way from Costa Rica which is about 5,000 miles away
from Cornwall. According to Angela Parren a sales assistant, she noticed
something moving as she was stocking the bananas on the shelves and when she
saw it was a scorpion she called her co-workers before calling the police where
they were adviced to contact a nearby zoo!!!
Lol…I
know here in Nigeria we would have killed it with immediate effect!!!Anyway the
zookeepers identified the scorpion as a black-edged scorpion whose sting
doesn’t kill but can be dangerous to humans and they took the insect away.
So please people be very OBSERVANT!!!
