The issue of
domestic physical violence especially against women continues to be very worrisome
to me because it seems like it is on the increase and nothing is being done to
check this horrible trend. I have actually experienced it and thank God it dint
end up fatal but so many other women haven’t been so lucky.
Over the
weeks I have read of men that beat their wives for refusing them sex, men that
beat their wife for not cooking well or even men that just beat women for no
just cause and some have died from the abuse!!Now I know there are some women
that also abuse men but you would agree with me that it is not as common as
the other way round.
What makes a
man even raise up his hands against a woman he claims to like or even love?
What is the aim of the abuse? Is it to prove that you are in charge or what?
How does the man feel seeing that he has caused physical pain and bodily harm
to his significant other?
During the Easter celebrations that just went by, a politician from Ogun state Bashorun
Bayo Awosanya beat up his wife to an inch of her life but for the intervention
of their security guard he might have even killed her!
The pictures
that flooded the internet from the beating of which the below is one of them
are extremely graphic with her face covered in blood and wounds all over. As if
that wasn’t bad enough,there is a pic showing where half of the hair on her
head was ripped out from the roots!!!! This is one of the sane pictures if I can call it that.
I am sure
this couldn’t have been the first time he was beating her and the signs would
have been there for a while. There is always a cycle involved in physical
abuse, first there is a buildup to the abuse where tension rises until the
abuse occurs, then there is a reconciliation stage where the abuser becomes
kind and loving suddenly(this is where most women that are being abused cling
to and pray for). Unfortunately when tension builds again the abuse starts all
over and it keeps escalating and sometimes ends up in death!!!!
The truth is
any woman in this unfortunate situation has to stay away from the abuser until
he calms down and seeks counseling and also prayers because it is a serious
matter that shouldn’t be handled with kid gloves. In actual fact it is a matter
of LIFE and DEATH!!!!
