NCC Fines 2 Major Telecom Firms Over 14 Million Naira!

This September is not starting out on a good note as the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has sanctioned 2 major telecom companies for contravening its directive on SIM card deactivation.

According to reports from This Day newspaper, the 2 firms have been fined 14.4 Million Naira and failure to pay on or before the 7th of September will attract a fine of N100,000 daily.

This huge sum was because the NCC monitoring team discovered pre-registered SIM cards on their networks and the NCC Regulation 20(1) of the Registration of Telecoms Subscribers, stipulates a fine of N200,000 for every pre-registered SIM card found to be active on any telecoms operators’ network.
