NEA 2015 Nomination: Howie T (Bayo Odusami) For Entertainment Executive Of The Year ~ BimzTheory

The Nigeria Entertainment Awards (USA) organizers finally woke up to a known reality and justly nominate an icon in Nigeria’s Entertainment industry Mr Bayo Odusami, fondly known as ‘HOWIE T’, for its ‘Entertainment Executive of the Year’ 2015 Award.

Howie T, a humble, brilliant and extremely generous individual, who would rather his works over the years speak for him, feels honoured about the nomination, appreciates the organizers, but says canvassing for votes is not an option. Looking back at his track record over the years and his various contributions to the industry would you blame him?

‘Howie T’ has been in the music and entertainment business for over 27 years, from its very foundation as a DJ between 1983 – 1999, with the likes of DJ Jimmy Jatt, Bola Fresh Wave, DJ Snoop ‘The Damager’, DJ Humility, JAJ, and a host of other. He was at the core of the orientation change from the consumption of American/ European music to our very own indigenous music and sound.

Howie T played music of the likes of Alex Zitto, Blakky, Remedies, etc at Night Clubs for years, supported and help nurture artistes like P Square, Sound Sultan, Nigga Raw, Skuki, KC Presh, etc from the days of ‘GRAB THE MIC’ up to ‘STAR QUEST’ talent competitions which help discover some of the major artistes out here today.

Bayo Odusami (Howie T) owns the KISS GROUP with his friend and partner Mr Dipo Abdul. Kiss Group is a fully integrated entertainment company with focus on music, media and events. Kiss Events for instance has worked in brand activation, experiential events, tours, facility set-up and event management for major brands such as British America Tobacco, MTN, Coca Cola, Cadbury, Nigeria Breweries, etc over the years.

Howie T is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Baseline Records Nigeria, and has artistes such as SKALES, SAEON, MR CHIDO, ARAMIDE, JAH BWAI, and KV signed to the label. Baseline Records Nigeria, in collaboration with its sister company Baseline Records USA in June 2015 put together a success concert in the Caribbean that features legends such as Teddy Riley (Blackstreet & Guy), Joe, Akon and their USA artist Keith Sweat.

In the last 10 years, Howie T has been responsible one of the most listened-to music countdown shows in Africa, the ‘MTN Yello Top Ten’, which features the biggest music hits coming out of Nigeria and Africa. The show airs on fifty-five (55) radio stations Pan-Nigeria, and is still the best countdown show in Nigeria.

With such a resume, its obvious that Howie T’s contributions to Nigerian music and development today cannot be overlooked, and a mare nomination may be very misplaced, as to someone who should be invited and given a ‘Life-Time Achievement Award’.
