In steps towards keeping up with the times, the National Universities Commission, NUC, says it would introduce electronic education programme otherwise called "e-learning” in all federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in the country.
Although the first phase of this initiative was first launched at the University of Benin last year, the second phase will now commence.
It is aimed at creating linkages between universities, polytechnics and colleges of educations in Nigeria with their peers overseas.
This was made known by the co-ordinator of the e-learning Programme, University of Benin, Idon Akogun during the launch of the second phase of the programme yesterday.
He said the NUC is also seeking funding from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, to have a pilot project in each of the geo-political zones to show the benefits of having an international component in each of our universities which will help Nigerian students be able to compete with other students worldwide.
