HSBC, Europe's Biggest Bank Set To Lay Off 8,000 Staff & Rebrand

The human resource crisis in banks is obviously a global issue as HSBC, Europe's biggest bank, is planning to cut 8,000 jobs in the UK in steps to reduce costs and simplify its business.

According to reports from the BBC, the bank has 48,000 UK workers and will make cuts in both its retail and investment banking operations.

Globally, a total of 25,000 jobs could be axed which means about 10% of HSBC's staff worldwide will be asked to go. The bank will also be rebranding its UK High Street branches but is yet to decide on a new name.
