The Federal Government has given a June 1st deadline to all airline operators in the country to have at least one Nigerian pilot on its cockpit.
According to the Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, this is to stop the discriminatory practices against indigenous pilots and also afford Nigerian pilots the relevant flying experience so that they can compete with their foreign counterparts.
The minister made this known at the inauguration of the pilot and international protocol lounge at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
What this means is that every airline operator that wants to operate in Nigeria's air space must have a Nigerian pilot in its cockpit.
