Bad News! Local Council Workers In Kogi State To Be Paid Half Of Their Salaries

Its bad news for workers in local government councils in Kogi state as the State Government says only 6 of its 21 local government councils can pay 50/60% of workers salaries for February according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Ainoko, made this known in Lokoja this week while blaming the situation on the shortfall of 416 Million Naira in the allocation to the councils from the Federation Account for February.

He listed councils involved as Lokoja, Okene, Ofu, Ibaji, Adavi and Okehi while the remaining workers in 15 local government councils will receive between 30% and 40%.

Anioko appealed to the workers for their understanding and asked them not to allow the situation demoralise them (like seriously?).

Meanwhile, the President of the National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Tom Abutu, has described the development as sad.
