President Goodluck Jonathan Promises To Set up The First Ever Co-operative University In Nigeria

The Federal Government has made it known that there are plans to set up the first ever Co-operative University in the country.

President Goodluck Jonathan made this promise during an interactive session with the Odua Cooperative Alliance ,OCA, a South West Co-operative movement, at the State House, Marina, Lagos.

He said  a study group would be set up  with some members of the OCA, to examine how such a university functioned in Kenya and determine the various faculties and departments suitable for Nigeria.

President Jonathan said he believes in specialised universities which is why he set up the Maritime University in Delta State.

He also added that the Federal Government would liaise with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to create access to the cooperative movement to soft loans for small and medium-scale enterprises.
