OMG! US Astronaut Set To Spend One Year In Space, The Longest Time Ever!

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, will be sending astronaut Scott Kelly to live on the International Space Station for 1 year.

This will be the longest time any U.S. astronaut will spend in space and twice as long as crew members usually stay on the space station.

NASA says space station crews normally work on about 200 experiments over 6 months, but Scott Kelly will be doing many more. In his free time, he says he'll spend a lot of time talking to people on Earth, messaging on social media, reading email, watching TV and writing.

This experiment is to help NASA understand what happens to astronauts who spend a long time in space and help plan longer spaceflights to an asteroid or to Mars.
