Say what??? telecommunications service provider, MTN Nigeria have rolled out the 10 Naira(ten naira) recharge card!!!
According to the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Bayo Adekanmbi in a statement yesterday, the initiative which is to be launched in Kano is to ensure that no Nigerian is shut out of the values that the network offers.
He said it is also to make it possible for customers to purchase airtime at the lowest rates and also offer opportunities for small scale entrepreneurs to sell low-unit portion packs of recharge cards as a new revenue stream.
This is such a shock to me as I remember when MTN just came to Nigeria years ago and you could only get either a 1,500 Naira or 750 Naira recharge card. It just goes to show that to be relevant in business, you need to keep up with the times.
Lets see if it will eventually make its way to other parts of the nation.
