Is She To Blame? See How Housemaid Deals With Child Of Her Bosses

I woke up this morning to the disturbing video below of a nanny beating up this cute little child almost to death.

         
                    

Watching the video you begin to wonder why the nanny can be so wicked and inhumane as to treat a helpless little child like this. Going through comments on my fellow bloggers page on this story, there has been so much outcry, anger and abuse as to how this nanny should be punished with some even suggesting that she be killed!

    

According to Laila's Blog, this incident actually happened in Uganda. and the little girl's name is Aneela. Her parents eventually saw the video and Aneela's dad gave the nanny a worse beating and was almost arrested by the police before the nanny was taken away by them and she was eventually sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Now so many questions running through my mind, why so wicked, why so brutal etc? The truth is there are two sides to every story. While I will never condone abuse of a child in any way, form or manner we need to think deeply about cause and consequences in life.

Personally, when my daughter was 4 years old, my house-help at the time, Maria, burnt her shoulder with a matchstick! I was so mad and then shocked because Maria was like the sweetest maid ever, both my children liked her a lot and used to play with her such that even I used to complain that they played too much.

It was while investigating the cause of this wickedness that I found out that my ex-hubby used to beat her after I had gone to work. She even said sometimes he would pour her food away, shout at her, abuse her and her family and also push her around. In fact, the day she burnt my daughter with the matchstick, he had actually beaten her black and blue earlier that morning, for sitting on the chair in the sitting room. When I confronted him with these allegations, he didn't deny and justified his actions by saying she was useless, lazy and should not be sitting on the same chair as us!

The truth is when you treat your domestic help any how, they will definitely take it out on your children because guess what? when you are not around, these children are actually at their mercy. Yes they are not as privileged as you and I are, which is why they came to 'serve' us but then that doesn't mean you should treat them like second class citizens. 

A friend of mine also found out that her hubby had been trying to sleep with their house-help and was always going to touch her in the bathroom when taking her bath but because the girl was always refusing his advances, he became aggressive with the girl in the house and was always complaining about her and beating her. Imagine how that girl would be treating their children behind them?

So while we watch this video with so much anger, let us check ourselves and see where we need to make adjustments. Let us always remember that time and chance happens to everyone and no one knows tomorrow.
