Throwback Event : Maiden Edition Of Aunty Bimbo Parents Forum ~ BimzTheory

These are pictures from the first ever Parents Forum organised by me in August this year. It came about because I realised that there is actually a need for us to redefine our parenting skills on how to raise our children.

Nowadays many parents wrongfully think parenting is all about being able to provide the basics like food, accommodation, clothes etc to these children.

Honestly, there is more to it than that and we all need to keep reminding ourselves especially in this 21st century which is the jet age where there seems to be an increase in unruly children. There is also a high increase in crimes against children especially pedophiles and child sexual abuse.

I had wonderful facilitators like Biodun Odunukwe who spoke on Redefined Parenting, Christianah Akindolie who spoke on Child Sexual Abuse and Feyikemi Niyi-Olayinka who spoke on Importance Of Mother Tongue To Children.

The Parents Forum would be a regular event held every quarter to help us as parents know how to support and help our children in terms of their development and also to redefine our mindset as parents.

The theme of this first edition was Raising and Nurturing Children In The Internet Age, and a few weeks after the event some parents called me up when they realized that as a result of coming for the event, they found out their children were actually on social media sites they weren't supposed to be.

One parent even found out her 12 year old daughter already had a boyfriend she was chatting with frequently and exchanging love talk with!!

This doesn't mean they have failed as parents but rather an awareness that they need to know their children more and teach them know how to comport themselves when they are on any social media platform as well as the right age to join these platforms which for most of them is actually age 13

Gifts were also given to the most Interactive parents and guests and it was indeed time well spent as the feedback was awesome and I can't help but thanking God for the success of this maiden edition.
