U-17 Team,Golden Eaglets To Travel By Road To Gabon

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has concluded arrangements for the 30-man contingent of the U-17 team, Golden Eaglets to travel by road through Cotonou, Benin Republic, to connect a flight to Gabon for the country’s African Cadet Championship qualifier against the East African country on Saturday.

According to the NFF General Secretary, Musa Amadu, this is due to the initial refusal of the Gabonese embassy in Nigeria to issue travel visas to the national team which he thinks might be due to the Ebola Virus outbreak.

He however confirmed that they were finally granted the visas on Wednesday but the challenge they now face is that there is no direct flight from Nigeria to Gabon because the Gabonese authorities have stopped all the airlines flying directly between the two countries.

Musa Amadu says the team now faces  the possibility of leaving from Calabar to Lagos, sleep overnight and travel by road to Cotonou, Benin Republic before taking a flight from there to Gabon latest today because the match comes up on tomorrow, Saturday.
