Petroleum Resources Sector Workers Suspend Strike

There has been a serious risk that Nigerians might experience a nationwide blackout following the ongoing strike embarked upon by workers in the oil sector because of the disruption of gas supply to five power generating plants across the country. Not to mention the fuel scarcity that was already going on in Abuja.

In the past couple of days in my area the power supply has been crap and the plenty mosquito bites on my body can testify to that.

The Minister of power, Chinedu Nebo urged workers in the petroleum resources sector to call off their strike and thank God they suspended the strike yesterday after 5 days and had a meeting with the petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The meeting was with with leaders of the two main oil workers unions, the Petroleum and National Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG.
