Wonders will indeed never cease as a 15-year-old
Chinese boy is to undergo surgery on his exceptionally long neck, which causes him agonizing pain.
While the normal number of vertebrae in the human neck
is 7,Fu Wengui has 10 and they press on the nerves of his neck, giving him an abnormal
chest frame and making it difficult for him to walk.
He has been diagnosed with Congenital Scoliosis, a spinal deformity caused by vertebrae that
are not properly formed. It occurs very early in development as soon as the
first six weeks of embryonic formation.
Luckily for him though, a Beijing-based charity has
agreed to sponsor a surgery to try and
reduce the size of his neck and doctors in Chaoyang Hospital are now making out
a treatment plan.
