Rubber flip flops or
‘Dunlop Slippers’ as we call it this side of town has saved a nurse who was struck
in the head by lightning .
49 year old Jennifer
Lyon, was on the phone to a friend when her TV satellite dish was hit by the
massive bolt.
The energy from the
300,000 volt strike was then attracted to the microwaves emitted from her
mobile and she was zapped in the head. But luckily for her the rubber soles on
the slippers insulated her meaning the electricity didn’t pass straight through
her body.
Her house also
caught fire and suffered extensive damage but she escaped with just
light-headedness and a slight bump to her forehead.
