Nigeria Airways? Federal Government Sets Up Committee On National Carrier Issue

A committee has been inaugurated following President Buhari’s directive that the Ministry of Aviation should commence work on the establishment of a national carrier. 
Speaking at the inauguration in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Binta Bello, charged members of the committees to pursue the assignment with all seriousness because of its national importance.

She emphasized the importance of having a national carrier due to economic considerations, strategic national interest, national pride and job creation potential.

The committee has been given the mandate to consult widely with stakeholders including interested international partners on setting up a national carrier on the basis of Public Private Partnership strategy. They have been given 
weeks to complete this assignment and submit a report.
