Acting Chief Judge Calls For Lawyers To Go Back To School & Study English


Acting Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Justice Ishaq Bello is calling for the continuous education for lawyers, particularly in the use of English language.

He made this call this week in Abuja at the launch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) stamp and affinity products.

According to PM News, the Acting Chief Judge says it is becoming rather irritating for lawyers to appear before a judge and continuously mix up their tenses in trying to present their cases.

Justice Bello gave an instance of where a lawyer stands from the bar saying “I didn’t did it” or “I saw them passes”. He therefore urged the leadership of the NBA to encourage all lawyer to go through what is called Language Usage Course, LUC
