The US Presbyterian Church seems to now be indirectly supporting gay couples and marriage as it has just amended its constitution.
Initially, the definition in the former constitution said marriage was between "a man and a woman." but now, according to reports from CNN, the new definition says, in part, that "marriage involves a unique commitment between two people, traditionally a man and a woman, to love and support each other for the rest of their lives."
However, the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, says it is a welcome development and supports a fully inclusive church. They say they are committed to fostering healthy dialogue and working with those who hold a view different from their own.
The amendment will take effect on the 21st of June.
