He says he portrayed the global icons this way to make people imagine them in ways they never could before. Amit Shimoni mixes the modern hipster culture of today's youth with history's greatest, most iconic leaders for a project called the Hipstory Series.

Some of the famous world leaders are painted with piercings, mustaches and wearing edgy, street fashions which is a far cry from official photographs or stately portraits in which the leaders are soberly dressed.

Amit Shimoni says he hopes the Hipstory Series which took him months to complete will encourage people reflect upon these global leaders who have been an inspiration to many.
