Nigerian music has really evolved over the past few years and has gained more popularity than before, but when you actually seat down to listen to the lyrics of the songs you find out more often than not there is usually no serious message.
Infact, Akpako master, Terry G said it is such songs that have lewd and sometimes rubbish lyrics that brings in the money. He said when he started out music, he was singing rhythm and blues (r&b) and no one even noticed him but as soon as he switched gears to the noisy and street music which is called commercial music, millions started to roll in.
